An automatic cooperative retransmission MAC protocol in Wireless Local Area Networks
2009
Existing solutions for cooperation in wireless networks either require simultaneous transmission of source and relay nodes or impose major modifications to original MAC protocols. In this paper, a new efficient retransmission MAC protocol is proposed for IEEE 802.11 based cooperation communications, with minimum modifications to the DCF scheme. Throughput and access delay performance of the proposed protocols is analyzed in error-prone and highly temporally correlated channels. Numerical results show that significant benefits can be achieved with our cooperative protocol, compared with the legacy schemes.
Enabling Cognitive-Radio Paradigm on Commercial Off-The-Shelf 802.11 Hardware
2013
Cognitive Radio paradigm (CR) has been recognized as key enabler for next generation wireless networking: the pos- sibility to access the limited radio spectrum in an oppor- tunistic manner allows secondary users to boost their trans- mission performance without interfering with existing pri- mary networks. Full testing and experimenting with this paradigm, however, is still a tough task, given either the i) limited capabilities above the PHY layer of cheap SDR so- lutions, or the ii) heavy investment required for setting up multi-node testbeds powered by FPGAs. In this demo we show how we leveraged our Wireless MAC Processor archi- tecture to tackle the two issues at the same time, providi…

On local optima in minimum time control of the restricted three-body problem
2016
International audience; The structure of local minima for time minimization in the controlled three-body problem is studied. Several homotopies are systematically used to unfold the structure of these local minimizers, and the resulting singularity of the path associated with the value function is analyzed numerically.
Constrained differential inclusions with nonlocal initial conditions
2017
International audience; We show existence for the perturbed sweeping process with nonlocal initial conditions under very general hypotheses. Periodic, anti-periodic, mean value and multipoints conditions are included in this study. We give abstract results for differential inclusions with nonlocal initial conditions through bounding functions and tangential conditions. Some applications to differential complementarity systems and to vector hysteresis are given.
Administrative Capacity as a Constraint to Fiscal Decentralization. The Case of Romania and Poland
2020
This paper considers the problem of administrative capacity as one of the main requirements that the accession countries seeking EU membership had to meet, and as a prerequisite to the decentralization of their public sectors and public finances. The selected decentralization problems are analyzed using the cases of two countries: Romania and Poland. The results of a theoretical and practical evaluation of administrative capacity as a likely obstacle to fiscal decentralization are presented taking account of the different levels of decentralization in Poland and Romania. A comparative analysis of Romania and Poland shows that administrative capacity can be a constraint for fiscal decentrali…
A comparison of injection pain with articaine with adrenaline, prilocaine with phenylpressin and lidocaine with adrenaline
2008
Kutuk, Nukhet/0000-0001-6563-1899 WOS: 000259667200006 PubMed: 18587306 Objective: The objective of the present study was to investigate the pain on injection of articaine with adrenaline, prilocaine with phenylpressin, and lidocaine with adrenaline. Study Design: The study sample was comprised of 497 consecutively seen patients received 497 maxillary buccal infiltration injections or inferior alveolar block injections of 4% articaine with 1: 200.000 adrenaline, 3% prilocaine with 1.08mcg phenylpressin, or 2% lidocaine with 1: 100.000 adrenaline. Immediately after the injection, patients were asked to rate their injection pain on a six-point scale. Results: There were no significant differe…
Dynamic MAC Parameters Configuration for Performance Optimization in 802.11e Networks
2006
Quality of service support in wireless LAN is a theme of current interest. Several solutions have been proposed in literature in order to protect time-sensitive traffic from best-effort traffic. According to the EDCA proposal, which is a completely distributed solution, the service differentiation is provided by giving probabilistically higher number of channel accesses to stations involved in real-time applications. To this purpose, the MAC parameter settings of each contending stations can be tuned dynamically. In this paper, we face the problem of tuning the EDCA MAC parameters in common scenarios in which a given number of low-rate delay-sensitive traffic flows share the channel with so…
Remarks on IEEE 802.11 DCF Performance Evaluation, IEEE Communication Letters, Vol. 9, Issue 8, Aug 2005 pp:765 - 767
2005
This letter presents a new approach to evaluate the throughput/delay performance of the 802.11 Distributed Coordination Function (DCF). Our approach relies on elementary conditional probability arguments rather than bidimensional Markov chains (as proposed in previous models), and can be easily extended to account for backoff operation more general than DCF's one
On the accuracy of some common modeling assumptions for EDCA analysis
2005
Several models have been discussed in literature in order to evaluate the performance of the EDCA differentiation mechanisms. Despite of the exponential back off rules, usually the EDCA protocol has been modeled as a persistent slotted access protocol, and summarized into a set of access probabilities. These models often show a very different complexity and accuracy, according to the basis assumptions. In this paper, we propose a new modeling approach for EDCA, in which the medium access is described in terms of backoff counter comparisons, contention by contention, and no restrictive hypothesis is considered. Through our model, we verify the applicability of the most common protocol simpli…
